Pilgrimages for 2025

Posted : May-22-2025

My dear brothers & sisters in Christ,

As we continue our journey through this Jubilee Year, I am pleased to share with you three special pilgrimages organized by our parish of St. Jerome. These pilgrimages are offered with the hope that everyone will be able to participate in at least one of them, depending on your time and financial availability.

  1. Walking Pilgrimage to St. Mary’s Church, Brampton: Thursday, May 29, 2025

This is a local pilgrimage, designed to be simple and accessible for most parishioners. Individuals, families, or small groups are encouraged to find walking companions and prayerfully journey on foot to St. Mary’s Church in Brampton, praying the Rosary along the way. You may begin your walk from home, or any convenient location suited to your capacity. Alternatively, you may arrive early at St. Mary’s and complete a Rosary Walk on the church grounds. Please note: confessions will be available at St. Mary’s starting at 6:00 p.m., we will gather to pray the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the grotto, Holy Mass will follow at 7:30 p.m.

  1. Bus Pilgrimage to the Shrines of Montreal and Quebec: August 8–11, 2025

Our parishioners were eager to take advantage of their visit to the sacred shrines of Montreal and Quebec that we are fully booked.

  1. Pilgrimage to Greece and Turkey: In the Footsteps of St. Paul: October 7–17, 2025

This international pilgrimage will trace the missionary journeys of St. Paul across Greece and Turkey. For more information or to register, please contact International Heritage Tours at 416-444-6666 or email stan@ihtours.com

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church (paragraphs 1471–1479) teaches, a Jubilee Year is a privileged time for receiving the plenary indulgence granted by the Church. This indulgence is an expression of God’s infinite mercy, available not only for ourselves but also for the souls of our departed loved ones.

To receive this grace, the faithful must be: truly repentant and free from all attachment to sin, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) within several days before or after the indulgenced act, receive Holy Communion, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.

During our pilgrimages, I strongly encourage all participants to make use of the sacrament of confession to fully receive the grace of this indulgence. Let this Jubilee Year be a time of spiritual renewal and a rediscovery of the boundless mercy of God.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. James Cherickal
